It didn't have any endearing value other than being a funky Pier1 vase that screamed "GASKIN HOUSE!!!" when I found it on clearance a year or so ago. Nonetheless, it had the potential to be of one of those really fun housewares the girls would fight over when they grew up (my sister and I never stop bugging my mom about the vintage Pyrex). And now it's just a pile of shards.

As I cleaned up the mess and nursed a cut finger, I had to actively make the choice NOT to fall into that fruitless habit of berating myself for even trying to make a home nice with little kids running about. Instead, I can thank my climby baby for the object lesson on Matthew 6:19-21.

You have just described what happened in our house over and over. I had to look on things as just that "things". When I was sure that the "accident" was just an accident and not intentional, I resolved to let go of my "precious" household decorations and not become attached to them. I congratulate this wonderful blog!!!!
