My friend Amanda Joy is getting married soon, and as decoration for her and her husband's reception, they'll be posting kids' answers to questions on love and marriage. She sent out a list of questions to her friends and asked us to interview our kids. Here are Veronica and Alexa's answers.
How does a person decide whom to marry?
V: by making sure they’re nice and they love God.
A: I will pick a good person who is a boy.
What is the proper age to get married?
V: 22, because it just sounds right
A: thirty or twelve
How did your mom and dad meet?
V: you went to the same college!
A: you just met and then just got married
When is it okay to kiss someone?
V: when you’re married
A: if you ask them and they say it’s okay
Is it better to be single or married?
V: to be married, because you want to be together and have kids
A: to get married, because you can love somebody
How do two people decide they will love each other?
V: even if they just meet, they will love each other if they want to obey God, because God says we should love everyone, even our enemies.
A: because one’s a girl and one’s a boy
How can a stranger tell if two people are married?
V: they usually have the same last name, they live in the same house, they’re both grownups, and they wear rings
A: because they have a wedding
What do your mom and dad have in common?
V: you’re both nice, clean the house, love God, go to church, you like to have kids, and play the piano
A: you can both cook eggs on the stove
What would you do if you were on a date and it wasn't going well?
V: pray to God
A: I’d tell the boy to stop being mean.
What is it like to fall in love?
V: you know you’re having a good time with your best friend who is a boy
A: you feel happy and if you’re sick you know they’ll take care of you.
Is it important to be good-looking if you want to get married?
V: It doesn’t matter if the boy I marry is handsome or not, he only has to be nice. He can be a nice, handsome guy or a nice, not-handsome guy, I don’t care. But he has to be NICE!
A: Yes, he has to be pretty and cool.
Why do people in love hold hands?
V: because they know each other and want to be close together forever.
A: because they want to get married
How do you make a person fall in love with you?
V: make sure he loves God and then of course he’ll love me!
A: you get married
How can you tell if two adults eating dinner at a restaurant are in love?
V: they’re probably out celebrating the day they got married and they’re very nice to each other
A: they’d be sharing their food
How do you make love last forever?
V: You promise to not ever get divorced!
A: you just do. You just love them.
How would the world be different if people didn't get married?
V: there would be no more children! Unless people decided to disobey God and have babies without getting married.
A: I would be sad if someone said, “Alexa you can’t get married.”
